We hope that your child or children are keen to play tennis this coming season. So many children play tennis at primary school and there are still opportunities once they reach College. There are two options: (1) social tennis on Monday afternoons after school; or (2) a more structured singles competition on Friday evenings. All College tennis is played at the Forrest Winery Marlborough Tennis Centre on Parker St. Really there is something for everyone so if your child is keen to play tennis please read on:  
 

1. MONDAY SOCIAL TENNIS

This will be run on Monday afternoons at the Marlborough Tennis Club in term four and term one.  It starts on Monday, 14th October 2019.
 

• Suitable for all abilities (beginners welcome)
• 4.30pm to 6pm (players to arrive by 4.20pm)
• Coaching included
• $20.00 for the season ($10.00 for club members)
• Mixed doubles
• No need to pre-register, just turn up on Monday, 14th October 2019
• Come and have fun and keep fit!

 

1. FRIDAY SINGLES LEAGUE

This will be run by the coaching team on Friday evenings at the Marlborough Tennis Club in term four and term one.  The competition starts on Friday, 1 November 2019. Note: this is a formal competition and players are expected to commit to playing every week whenever possible.
 

• Round robin competition
• Suitable for all levels (players will be divided into different divisions according to ability). Results from the top division will be recorded on Tennis New Zealand’s Match Hub. Players in this division must have a Club membership for these results to be recorded.
• A competitive singles match each week
• Run by the coaches between 5.30pm and 7.30pm. Players to arrive by 5.15pm
• $20.00 for the season ($10.00 for club members)
• Grading at 5.30pm on 18 October 2019 (a second grading day will be held on 25th October 2019 if required)
• Registration is required, form attached to be completed and returned to me.

​Please note this will probably be the last year for Junior Rep teams due to the changing philosophy of representative sport at a young age. Please encourage children to give the skills sessions a go and then trial.
