Part Time Librarian


AppSeeking a friendly, well-organised and enthusiastic Librarian who is confident to lead the day-to-day running of our school library and actively promote our special Christian character in all aspects of this role. 

Role Description:
The Librarian supports school-wide literacy by encouraging reading for pleasure and information, promoting high-quality resources, and ensuring our library is an inviting and well-organised learning space.
Key responsibilities include:


  • Library Operations
  • Managing and monitoring the annual library budget, and reading and sourcing books that support our special character
  • Planning, and overseeing, the annual stocktake
  • Maintaining engaging displays and ensuring an orderly, welcoming library environment
  • Creating and managing the library timetable
  • Running library skills sessions for students
  • Programmes and Events. Including (but not limited to):  Book Week, Summer Reading Programme, Library Monitors, Book swap events, Supporting school-wide celebration weeks (e.g., Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, Chinese New Year, and other cultural events), Support for Staff and Students in sourcing topic books and curriculum-aligned resources, Assisting with class read-aloud selections, Promoting reading for pleasure and independent choice, Providing ideas and support for learning centre activities.

Our ideal candidate will be:

  • Friendly, approachable, and passionate about children’s literature
  • Confident and competent with digital tools
  • Highly organised, proactive, and able to work independently
  • Preferred (but not essential):
    - 
    Experience working in a library environment and/or with primary-aged children
    - 
    A relevant qualification or degree
    - 
    Experience using a Library Management System (Musac)

Part Time Guidance Counsellor 

We are seeking a qualified, NZAC/NZACC registered Christian Guidance Counsellor (or working towards registration) to join our school community. This pivotal role involves providing compassionate, professional support for the emotional, social, spiritual, and academic success of students across all year levels, from Y0 to 13.

The successful candidate will be passionate about working with young people, demonstrating the ability to manage a busy workflow effectively while maintaining a collaborative, team-focused approach. You will possess the spiritual and professional discernment to balance therapeutic intervention within a supportive, Christ-centred school context, working seamlessly with our pastoral team.

A deep commitment to a culturally responsive model is essential, ensuring that every student feels valued, understood, and supported in a way that respects their unique cultural backgrounds and upholds the spirit of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Providing high-quality individual and group counselling, grounded in best practice and Christian values.
  • Supporting students in navigating personal, social, and academic challenges with empathy and wisdom.
  • Collaborating with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to develop and champion school-wide wellbeing initiatives.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with whānau, community, and professional support services.
  • Upholding the highest ethical standards and strict confidentiality in all counselling practices.

Our Ideal Candidate Will:
  • Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Counselling.
  • Possess current full or provisional membership with NZAC (or equivalent).
  • Bring proven experience working with youth, ideally within a school setting, i.e. teaching.
  • Be skilled at advocating for students and maintaining professional confidentiality.
  • Be empathetic, approachable, and adept at building trust with young people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate proactive leadership in developing and implementing effective wellbeing and psychoeducational programmes.
  • Have an active interest in restorative practices and contributing positively to our school's Christian character.
  • Be committed to the school’s special character. This position requires that a willingness and ability to take part in religious instruction appropriate to the special character of Richmond View School is a condition of appointment and shall be part of the terms and conditions of employment. All staff are expected to be part of a dedicated, close-knit team that integrates biblical principles into every aspect of the curriculum and school life.
