National Immunisation Week

New Zealand is celebrating Immunisation Week on 2nd – 8th May. This year’s theme is ‘Protecting your Baby Starts in Pregnancy’. Expectant mums are encouraged to be immunised during their pregnancy for influenza (flu) and whooping cough, immunise their baby on time and enrol early with a midwife and GP to get the care they need.  Immunisation in pregnancy offers protection to the mother, the unborn baby, the newborn baby and is FREE.
 
In New Zealand all children up to the age of 18 are eligible for free routine childhood vaccinations.
It is important for your child to have all vaccinations in the childhood schedule and at the correct time, however it’s never too late to start immunisation. If your child has missed vaccinations please contact your family Doctor or Practice Nurse to work out a ‘catch up’ schedule specifically for your child.

It has been designed to sit alongside the Well Child Tamariki Ora, My Health Book, with added benefits to help families keep up to date with their healthcare providers and immunisations. You can keep track of everything to do with your baby or child, scan dates, immunisations, contact details and set reminders for appointments.
