Marlborough Book Festival Sessions - Gold Coin The Marlborough Book Festival is putting on two gold coin sessions next weekend (July 6 and 7), aimed towards middle readers, aged 9 and up, as well as older generations who loved reading annuals in their youth. Kate De Goldi and Susan Paris are the editors behind Annual and Annual 2, two best-selling collections of stories, comics, poems, how-tos, songs, cooking, art, games, essays “and un-classifiables” from some of New Zealand’s best writers and illustrators. It’s about breaking the rules, they say. “Today’s kids are savvy, multi-literate, intrepid. They’re up for anything.” The gold coin session are at Picton Library from 3pm to 4pm this Saturday (July 7), and at the Marlborough District Library in Blenheim from 12.30pm to 1.30pm on Sunday (July 8). Expect slides, stories and baking! If you want to buy a book on the day and have it signed by the editors, please bring cash or cheque. For more information go to www.marlboroughbookfest.co.nz
Many thanks to all those who have replied to our invitation to join our RVS Kapa Haka group. Our group is aimed primarily at children in Rooms 3 – 6. We have some younger children who are keen to join and we will involve them later in the school year. This group met for the first time last week and so, it’s all systems go!
There is still time for your child to join this group if you would like. Just email the school office to let us know. Francesca Crossley & Whaea Carleen Phillips. |
