RVS Change of Class Successful!

3/5/2018

Hello RVS Community
It is with pleasure that I announce on behalf of the Richmond View School Board & Proprietors that the application for Change of Class and roll increase to 345 has been approved. We have, as a community, been pursuing this reality for over five years, with the latest application begun in early 2016.

It is an exciting time but we also realise that there will be many questions, and we welcome them.  The establishment of faith-based secondary schooling here at RVS will take time, patience and commitment  from all involved but will be worth it.  We are well connected, both here in Marlborough and across the country and plan to continue to collaborate with our strong network of schools and experts for success.

Some key points that we can share with you immediately include:
  • Our first Year 9 class will commence next year (2019);
  • Updated information will be posted under our 'Future' section of this website, as well as communicated to you via normal school communications;
  • You have an opportunity to ask questions  via the form box located at the bottom of  "The Essentials" blog post;
  • We will provide you with regular updates over the course of the year and endeavour to answer all of your questions as soon as we are able.  There will also be information meetings and our open door policy remains.
  • There is already a substantial amount of educational research and consideration behind the vision for the future extension.  Considered already are our key context factors:
    • Faith-based
    • Small in numbers
    • Co-educational
    • Three-part school structure
    • Emphasis on personalised pathways to learning

We would like to thank those people who have committed themselves to prayer and service as we journey through this transition, as well as those who have contributed their time and skill to help bring us to this point. The final statements from the Ministry of Education reflect the wonderful staff and community we are blessed with, here at Richmond View School:
" I have recently considered the application from your Proprietor to change the class of Richmond View School from a Year 1-8 school to a Year 1-13 full composite school. I have also considered the application for a maximum roll increase to 345 students.

I have decided to approve these changes based on the information presented to me."

- Katrina Casey
Ministry of Education
" Finally I acknowledge the achievements of Richmond View School as recognised in your most recent Education Review Office Report. I congratulate the school on these positive educational outcomes.

Please convey my best wishes to the Board and staff. I trust that this change will enable the school to achieve its goals by concentrating on the provision of high quality secondary education for its students."

To the Glory of God,

Dave Pauling - Principal
