The weather is looking a whole lot better today after yesterday's postponement. Pray for a great time as we take our fantastic Year 8's around Lake Rotoiti as a leadership/bonding exercise. You can keep an eye on the lake via the St Arnaud Webcam:
http://www.tasman.govt.nz/tasman/webcams-in-tasman/st-arnaud-webcam/ This week's discussion is around being good stewards of what we have. We talked about our school tablets as an example. We are proud as a school to cover the cost of BYOD but need our students to be good stewards of these tools so that they last. This applies to all that we have been given, from our toys right up to our planet.
As part of being a state integrated school, we are required to report to you, our community annually regarding our overall National Standards results. Below you will find these results. As a summary the data looks like this:
Reading - 85% of our students are at or above the standard in Reading Writing - 87% of our students are at or above the standard in Writing Mathematics - 90% of our students are at or above the standard in Mathematics Below is the data broken into different categories: (Y0 and some Y1 students are excluded) It was a pleasure to host Dr Anne Milne earlier this week here at RVS. Dr Milne challenged the community of schools' members around cultural proactivity and about the need for responsive education. It was refreshing to hear and see how the students of the school she is Principal of had so much ownership of their learning.
Be sure to pop into the library sometime this week or next week and have a look through the archives at pictures such as these:
These fantastic pictures of our Nadia came across my desk yesterday and I could not resist posting them, (with mum's permission of course). What an amazing costume!
It was great having one of the original builders visit this morning to talk to us. Thank you Mr Campbell.
