Hello dearest RVS community, welcome back to RVS, 2017. I hope you had great Christmas and New Year celebrations with the family.
There has been a huge amount of action here at RVS during the holidays. The new Room 4 is so close to being finished along with the new adjoining facilities. Room 3 has new carpet/paint and new guttering and drains are also well under way along the west side of A block. New double glazed doors and windows for A Block are also being made and will be installed before winter. The proprietors have also begun construction of new toilets near the Hall allowing visitors and M&M’s people to remain separate from the school.
We have a big Term 1 ahead of us with the ongoing High School (Change of Class) work, the Education Review Office visit in Week 3, our Marae visit in Week 5 and other activities such as the Y8 Tramp and settling into our new classes. There will be some great new initiatives this year along with the continued refinement of the existing opportunities, exciting.
We welcome several new families to our ‘wider RVS family’, it is a pleasure to have them with us. Unfortunately, even with last year’s roll increase from 120 to 145, we have had to close the roll in Room’s 1, 2 and 5. There are 3 places left for 2017 and only a couple for 2018. If you have not yet enrolled younger children, I suggest you do so as soon as possible. Please pray for the Change of Class application as it makes its way through the Ministry of Education consultation process. Its success will give us a little more ‘breathing room’ in our roll as well as the choice to educate our children/young adults in a faith-based school all the way to Y13.
Education from a Christian worldview is such a blessing and so very important. I look forward to an amazing 2017 with you all and can’t wait to get underway. I hope you are able to make it along on Wednesday, Week 1 to our new-look, relaxed parent information evening.
Proud Principal of Richmond View School.
