The aim of homework this term is to enjoy reading, and to consolidate skills and concepts that have been learnt during the week.
The homework breakdown is as follows: Daily: 1) 20 Minutes of reading a good non fiction or chapter book (novel) each night. 2) 20 Minutes on Mathletics online either on 1) preset tasks (by me) or 2) on tasks that the students recognize as being areas to target for extra practice. They will have access to exercises from our entire curriculum in the stage they are at. Only after they have worked responsibly on either of these two options, should they be allowed to do "live Mathletics" Periodically 3) Slower workers may have to complete tasks at home from time to time if necessary. 4) Research type tasks (topic) may be sent home occasionally for children to carry out and complete. After a long day at school, homework needs to be enjoyable and targeted. YR 8's need to bear in mind too, that next year, YR 9 expectation for homework is 60 - 90 minutes a night. I will check the books from time to time and children are expected to carry them between home and school daily. They are expected to add any additional homework that may apply to them individually or collectively. Comments are closed.
