Water Rockets
In room six we have made water Rockets with Mr Adamson. We started learning about them in week two by watching videos and seeing other people launch them, then we launched a couple of our own later that week. At first we just launched a couple of plain old fizzy bottles but after a while we got to decorate our own bottles in groups of 2s or 3s. When we had just started to learn how to launch them we only used a tyre pump, but when we got the hang of it we moved onto a more complicated pump. We had about 3-4 weeks to make the rockets in our groups then we got to launch them. Launching them was the best part of the whole activity because it was so fun, it was also the best part because some of his got wet! This is one of the things we have done in room 6 this term. Alexandra .Over the past few weeks, room 6 has been up to many things. I have written down a few of the things that we have been up to. Here are a few.
Room 6 have been making different types of art from around the world, and we are then putting that certain art form onto an outline of the globe with paint, pencils, coloured pencils, or whatever we need to use. With Mr Adamson for science, room 6 has been making bottle rockets/ water rockets, and have been trying to see who could get their bottle rocket go the furthest. There have been many cool designs with a few of the rockets making it the length of the senior field. We used the bottle rocket launcher courtesy of the Marlborough Tech Centre. We focused on the aerodynamics of the bottles, with nose cones and fins, and one group even managed to get a rifling effect, making their water rocket to spin in the air making quite a spectacle while it was flying. Mrs Pigou has been teaching us how to make cartoon strips in literacy, and we have been making comics about a special time in our lives everyone's comics came out great and were very good to read. Also with Mrs Pigou, we have been doing social studies, where we have been researching the treaty of Waitangi, and what effect it had on people’s lives, even to today. It has been very interesting. A letter has gone home re immunisation info session, which is 2pm on 19th March.
