Term 2 already! I trust everybody enjoyed a relaxing break after a long and busy first term. This term Room 4 will have 23 students as our Year 5 boys move to Room 3A. We will still see them regularly, as we interchange for maths and when we join together for our weekly P.E. session. P.E. day will now be Thursday and children will need to have P.E. uniform and sneakers at school this day. It is also helpful if they have sneakers every day for fitness and occasional lunchtime games sessions.
Homework will continue to be a weekly requirement and it was very pleasing to see how some children stepped up to the challenge of regular reading, spelling and Mathletics. Please will you check your child’s homework book each week and help them to achieve their homework targets. Room 4’s assembly is on Friday of week 2 so we hope you can come along. Week 2 will also be busy because of the Ride On Programme running on Thursday. Please make sure you are familiar with the pre-event requirements regarding bike and helmet checks. Please look out for a Medical Information form that will come home in week 1. This needs to be completed and returned to the office so that records can be updated. Finally, we are pleased to welcome a new student to Room 4. Tayah is Year 6 and we are sure she will love being with the other awesome students in this classroom. As always, if you have any questions or concerns please see me, email or make an appointment through the office, Blessings, Carol Wilson Week 1
The earth and everything on it belong to the Lord. The world and its people belong to Him. Psalm 24 v1-2 Week 2 With your own eyes you saw my body being formed. Even before I was born you had written in your book everything that I would do. Psalm 139 v16 Week 3 Christ was truly God, but he did not try to remain equal with God. Instead he gave up everything and became a slave when he became like one of us. Philippians 2 v6-7 Week 4 Christ was humble. He obeyed God and even died on a cross. Then God gave Christ the highest place and honoured his name above all others. Philippians 2 v 8-9 Week 5 So at the name of Jesus everyone will bow down, those in heaven, on earth and under the earth. Philippians 2 v10 Week 6 I ask “Why do you care about us humans? Why are you concerned for us weaklings?” You made us a little lower than yourself and you have crowned us with glory and honour. Psalm 8 v4-5 Week 7 Keep in step with God’s love as you wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to show you how kind he is by giving you eternal life. Jude v21 Week 8 Offer praise to God our Saviour because of our Lord Jesus Christ. Only God can keep you from falling and make you pure and joyful in his glorious presence. Jude v24 Week 9 You are my mighty rock, my fortress, my protector, the rock where I am safe, my shield, my powerful weapon and my place of shelter. Psalm 2 v2 Year 6 Memory Verse
The life style of good people is like sunlight at dawn that keeps getting brighter until broad daylight. The life style of the wicked is like total darkness, and they will never know what makes them stumble. My child, listen carefully to everything I say. Don’t forget a single word, but think about it all. Knowing these teachings will mean true life and good health for you. Carefully guard your thoughts because they are the source of true life. Never tell lies or be deceitful in what you say. Keep looking straight ahead, without turning aside. Know where you are heading for, and you will stay on solid ground. Don’t make a mistake by turning to the right or the left. Proverbs 4: 18-27 Year 5 Memory Verse
Don’t condemn others, and God won’t condemn you. God will be as hard on you as you are on others. He will treat you exactly as you treat them. You can see the speck in your friend’s eye but you don’t notice the log in your own eye. How can you say, “My friend, let me take the speck out of your eye,” when you don’t see the log in your own eye? You’re nothing but show offs! First take the log out of your own eye. Then you can see how to take the speck out of your friend’s eye. Matthew 7: 1-5 in 1981, 35 years ago Richmond View School began. The 1980s was a decade of many fashion crimes and Room 4 enjoyed recreating those fashions for our 80's dress up day. Bright and baggy would be a good description.
As a privilege for saying their term scripture, children in Room 4 may wear mufti to school on Thursday 14th April.
On Tuesday 10 students from Room 4 went to Redwoodtown School to take part in an interschool's Ki o Rahi tournament. They won 2 of their games and had a great time.
