Hello and welcome to the 4th Blog of 2019!
It has been an exciting week for all who were involved with the preparation of our new classroom and for all of the pioneer students. On Monday we celebrated the opening of the first college classroom, officially marking the beginning of the Richmond View High School. We had the great honour of the mayor and mayoress of Marlborough presenting badges to the year nine students, the start of the Honours program. Three of our year nine students gave speeches on what the past, present and future of RVS will look like and Mr Adamson made us proud with a speech in Te Reo Maori. After the service, our year 9 students served cake to the people who came to the opening and there was a special picture of the first day of school 2019 presented to each attendee. The Marlborough Express has an article on the class opening, go and check it out on the Marlborough express webpage. In science this week, we have continued to work on creating and testing water rockets using an aim, method and averages of our results to show our progress. A video of a successful 60m flight was filmed by Zoe Jordaan. The longest rocket to fly is 66 meters by Felix, Timothy and Jeong-Hun. This week we also welcome a new student into our classroom, Bailey Watson. We pray that she makes a smooth transition into this new environment as we are excited to have her joining us. This next week we are at Whenua iti on our year nine camp, so there will be no blog, but stay tuned for our week seven blog with a recap on our exciting camp experience.
